Tickets are sold at the terminal ticket offices and machines, for cash or bank card, and drivers can pay by Via Verde at the machine. There are no online sales or seat reservations, and the navegante pass is not accepted. The catamaran has its own fares (€4.90 a trip) and is not part of this table. All fares in euros (EUR).
The Tróia peninsula lies across the Sado from Setúbal, and the crossing is run by Atlantic Ferries, which has held the public service concession since October 2007. Two separate services share the river: car ferries, which carry cars, motorbikes, bikes and foot passengers, and a passenger-only catamaran with its own terminals and tickets. This page follows the car ferries.
In Setúbal the ferry leaves from the Doca do Comércio terminal on Avenida Jaime Rebelo, where Atlantic Ferries also has its office. In Tróia it berths at Cais Sul, next to the Soltroia development. The operator quotes an average crossing time of 25 minutes. The catamaran uses different quays – Rua Teotónio Banha in Setúbal and Tróia Marina – and takes about 15 minutes, so make sure you head to the right terminal.
Ferry timetables change with the season. In 2026 the low season runs from 1 January to 29 May and from 14 September to 31 December, with one table for every day of the week: hourly sailings through the day and the last ones late in the evening. Mid and high season, from 30 May to 13 September, have their own tables.
A car or van up to 3,500 kg costs €21.00 per crossing including the driver, and each passenger pays €5.50, the same as a foot passenger. There are 2-trip and 5-trip tickets for cars. Bikes go only on the ferry, at €5.50 including the rider. Pets travel free if they stay in the car or in a carrier you can hold as hand luggage.
You cannot book or buy online. In this season the staffed ferry desk in Setúbal sells to foot passengers from 7:00 to 14:30 and to vehicles from 7:00 to 22:00; in Tróia it is staffed from 12:00 to 19:00. Outside those hours you use the ticket machines, which take cash and cards, and drivers can also pay by Via Verde. Lisbon's navegante pass is not accepted.
From Tróia a bus runs to Grândola. In Setúbal the operator puts the ferry quay about 10 minutes' walk from the bus station and 15 from the railway station.
- Get to the pier in good time: vehicle boarding can close before the departure time.
- Check the operator's notices on the day — bad weather, swell, fog or breakdowns can change or cancel crossings.
- Check where to buy your ticket and which travel passes or transport cards the route accepts.
