2026 single-trip fares without the Social Mobility Subsidy discount, for the January–March and October–December season. A fuel surcharge, reviewed monthly and not shown in the fare table, is added to every fare. For November 2026 sailings, the booking engine's search shows an adult €43.38 per leg in tourist class and €54.04 in first class, in either direction; for December, check the booking engine. Children up to 4 travel free but need a ticket. Bikes go free with a ticketed passenger and cannot be carried on the car. The fare table does not say whether the car fare includes the driver; passenger-plus-car packages are sold separately. Madeira residents registered on the SIMplifica portal get the Social Mobility Subsidy discount at purchase. All fares in euros (EUR).

Madeira's sea link to Porto Santo is the Lobo Marinho, a 112-metre ship run by Porto Santo Line, which won the public tender to operate the route in October 1995. It carries up to 1,153 passengers and 145 vehicles. In Funchal it berths at the port's south quay; on Porto Santo, at the south quay of the harbour.

Do not expect a fixed weekly timetable. Porto Santo Line publishes a calendar for each month, and in November and December 2026 a typical day has one sailing out of Funchal in the morning and one back from Porto Santo in the early evening. The exceptions are frequent: 5, 6 and 8 November have two round trips, several Fridays have a single evening round trip, there is no ship on some Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and none on Christmas Day. The table on this page follows each date. The company's FAQ quotes a journey of about 2 hours 15 minutes, but its booking system shows arrivals roughly two and a half hours after departure, so plan for the longer time.

Visitors pay the 2026 fares without the resident discount. From January to March and October to December an adult single in tourist class costs €37.12 and a return €58.90; first class is €47.78 and €89.28. Children aged 5 to 11 pay half, and under-5s travel free but still need a ticket. A fuel surcharge, reset every month and missing from the fare table, comes on top: for November 2026 sailings the online search already quotes €43.38 per leg in tourist class and €54.04 in first class. Bikes travel free with their rider, and pets go in cages in the ship's kennel for €10 per trip.

You can buy online with Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, MB Way or a Multibanco reference, at Porto Santo Line's shops in Funchal and Porto Santo (closed on public holidays), or at the passenger terminal, which opens an hour before departure and stops selling 15 minutes before. Bring photo ID and check in at least 30 minutes ahead. Drivers get mixed messages: the FAQ asks cars to be at the car deck an hour early, while the contract and fare table say 30 minutes, so allow the hour. Luggage allowance is one cabin bag up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm plus one hold bag up to 25 kg.

Wheelchair users board by lift from the stern ramp an hour before departure, escorted by crew, and should contact the company at least 48 hours ahead.

  • Get to the pier in good time: vehicle boarding can close before the departure time.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — bad weather, swell, fog or breakdowns can change or cancel crossings.
  • Check where to buy your ticket and which travel passes or transport cards the route accepts.
