TTSL weekday timetable, with separate tables for Saturdays and for Sundays and public holidays. No end date published.

Cars and motorbikes: suspensions in 2026 Vehicles can only board and leave at Belém and Trafaria, never at Porto Brandão. Citing technical problems with its fleet, TTSL suspended vehicle transport from 4 September to 12 October 2026 and twice more in the second half of October; it was restored on 27 October. Foot passengers kept to the normal timetable throughout. Check the notices on ttsl.pt before you drive on.

Local holidays TTSL's table refers to 'Sundays and public holidays' without saying whether that covers the local holidays of Lisbon (13 June) and Almada (24 June). On those days check the notices or call 808 20 30 50.

Prices from TTSL's 2026 fare table, applied since January with revisions on 16 March and 15 May. On the Trafaria route a single ticket and a zapping trip cost the same (€1.50); both are loaded onto the navegante occasional card, listed as the VIVA Viagem card (€0.50) in TTSL's table. This route has no half fare. The Trafaria fare table lets children up to and including age 5 travel free, while TTSL's page on using its river services sets the ticket exemption at up to age 4. Bikes and scooters go free. The 24-hour Carris/Metro/TTSL ticket is not valid on this ferry. Vehicles are charged by class under TTSL's fare table. All fares in euros (EUR).

The Belém ferry crosses the Tagus from Lisbon to the Almada side of the river. TTSL – Transtejo Soflusa runs it from Belém river station to Trafaria, with a call at Porto Brandão, and gives an average journey time of 25 minutes. It is a vehicle ferry, so cars and motorbikes travel alongside foot passengers, but vehicles can only get on or off at Belém and Trafaria.

Which stop comes first depends on the sailing. Leaving Belém, most boats call at Porto Brandão and then carry on to Trafaria; coming back, they leave Trafaria and stop at Porto Brandão on the way to Lisbon. A few runs go the other way round, and TTSL's timetable flags them with asterisks. The direction notes on this page tell you which ones they are.

There are separate tables for weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays and public holidays. Boats run roughly hourly, with a longer gap in the early afternoon, and the first sailing is later at weekends. TTSL gives no end date for the current tables.

A trip costs €1.50, whether you buy a single ticket or use zapping credit. Either way it goes on a rechargeable navegante occasional card, which costs €0.50. Half fares are not sold on this route. For children, TTSL's two pages disagree: the Trafaria fare table exempts them up to and including age 5, and the rules for using the river services give age 4. Monthly navegante passes are valid on all TTSL river routes, but the 24-hour Carris/Metro/TTSL ticket only works on the Cacilhas ferry, not here. All three stations have a staffed ticket office and machines that take coins, notes and bank cards, and the machines are available from before the first boat until the last departure.

Bikes and scooters are free, one per passenger, and the ferries carry them on the vehicle deck. Pets up to 5 kg also travel free; heavier animals pay €1.50 and must travel boxed, or muzzled and on a short lead.

TTSL stopped carrying vehicles several times in 2026 because of technical problems with the boats, while foot passengers kept sailing. If you plan to take a car across, check the notices on ttsl.pt first. Belém station connects with Cascais line trains and Carris buses and trams; Trafaria and Porto Brandão are served by Carris Metropolitana buses.

  • Get to the pier in good time: vehicle boarding can close before the departure time.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — bad weather, swell, fog or breakdowns can change or cancel crossings.
  • Check where to buy your ticket and which travel passes or transport cards the route accepts.
